What this connection does
Synemer connects to Bybit using a read-only API key. This lets the journal import your closed trades without ever being able to place orders or withdraw funds.
The connection checks for new closed positions on a schedule and normalizes the data into your journal. You keep full control of the key from your Bybit account.
Before you start
Make sure you have a Bybit Unified Trading Account and that two-factor authentication is enabled.
You will also need access to your Synemer account settings, where connections are managed.
Create a read-only API key in Bybit
Log in to Bybit and go to Account & Security, then API Management. Create a new API key and give it a clear name, such as Synemer Read Only.
Enable read access for Unified Trading, Spot and Derivatives. Do not enable trade or withdrawal permissions. The key must be read-only for your security.
Copy the API key and the secret. Store the secret somewhere safe while you complete the next steps.
Add the connection in Synemer
In Synemer, go to Settings and then Connections. Choose Bybit as the broker.
Paste the API key and secret. Select the account type that matches your Bybit account, such as Unified Trading.
Save the connection. Synemer will validate the key and begin the first sync.
Verify your first sync
After saving, open the sync log under the connection. You should see the first batch of closed trades appear within a few minutes.
If no trades appear, check that the key has read permissions and that the account type matches your Bybit account.
Security notes
Your API credentials are encrypted at rest and never exposed in the browser. Synemer only reads historical trade data.
You can revoke access at any time by deleting the connection in Synemer or rotating the key in Bybit.
