Why connect Coinbase to Synemer
Coinbase Advanced Trade shows your futures history one order at a time. Synemer turns closed positions into win rate, average risk and drawdown.
The connection is read-only and runs in the background, so your journal stays current without exports.
How the connection works
Create a CDP API key in Coinbase with view permission, then choose Global Derivatives or US Futures in Synemer and paste the key name and private key. Use an Ed25519 (recommended) or ECDSA key.
The key can read your perpetual futures history, positions, balance and funding. It cannot place orders, cancel orders or withdraw funds.
What gets synced
Synemer records closed perpetual futures trades, fill-level orders, open positions and balance. Global Derivatives funding is read from settlement logs; CFM funding is captured at account level.
Spot trading is not included. This connection reads perpetual futures only.
Beta status
Coinbase support is in beta. Connection or sync may fail while we validate it with real Global Derivatives and US futures accounts.
Your other connections are not affected. If something looks wrong, disconnect the Coinbase connection and send us the sync error from Settings.
What you need before you start
- An active Synemer account.
- A Coinbase account with access to Global Derivatives or an eligible Coinbase Financial Markets futures account.
- A CDP API key created with an Ed25519 or ECDSA signature algorithm and view permission.
- The key must be permissioned to the Global Derivatives or CFM futures portfolio.
How to connect Coinbase
- 1
Create the CDP key
Open Coinbase API settings or the CDP portal, create a Secret API key, choose Ed25519 or ECDSA, grant view permission and restrict it to the Global Derivatives or CFM futures portfolio.
- 2
Add the connection
In Synemer, open Add connection, choose Crypto exchanges, then Coinbase. Select Global Derivatives or US Futures and paste the key name and private key.
- 3
Let the history sync
Synemer pulls the available perpetual futures fills on the first sync, then keeps updating as new trades close.
- 4
Review your stats
Open the connection analytics to see performance, risk and funding reflected in your account PnL.
Frequently asked questions
Does Synemer support Coinbase spot?
No. This connection reads Coinbase perpetual futures only. Spot needs a different import model.
Can Synemer trade on my Coinbase account?
No. The connection is read-only and only reads futures fills, positions and balance.
Why is Coinbase marked as beta?
We are validating the connector with Global Derivatives and US futures accounts. Sync or connection may fail while we finish that validation.
How is funding handled?
Global Derivatives settlement logs expose funding per settlement, so Synemer records it as a funding cash flow. CFM exposes portfolio-level funding only.
How far back does the sync go?
Global Derivatives starts from January 2020 and imports whatever history the gateway exposes. CFM keeps roughly one year of fills.
Why does BTC_USDC-PERPETUAL show as BTCUSDC?
Synemer stores a clean pair symbol for display and icons. The raw Coinbase instrument name is kept internally for candles and API requests.
